VE Mobile
The VEMobile application provides Visual Enterprise users the ability to perform Visual transactions such as part location transfers, work order receipts, interbranch transfers, shipments, etc. using mobile devices. The application can be used by any mobile device that supports wireless and is running Windows Mobile or Windows CE operating system. An example piece of hardware would be the Motorola MC9090-G which is in the gun form factor. The VEMobile application utilizes these devices' barcode scanning ability to increase speed and mobility of transaction processing.
Description
How VE Mobile for Visual Enterprise Works (Overview)
The VEMobile application is installed on each piece of compatible mobile hardware the company wishes to use for mobile transaction processing. It communicates with the VISUAL database wirelessly via a web service written by us and installed on any of the company's network web server. The use of a web service ensures that the application does not access VISUAL data directly at any time, which increases data transfer security.
The VEMobile application is made up of various modules; each module is built to handle scanning and reading of barcodes generated and printed by VISUAL. Current modules include, but are not limited to, part inquiry, location inquiry, location transfer, work order receipt, IBT entry, IBT shipping, and IBT receiving.
Mobile Part Inquiry for Visual Enterprise
The Part Inquiry screen lists all available locations and physical quantities for a given part. The user can scan in a part Id or enter it with the keypad. If a device is configured for one warehouse only, the Whse column will not appear and only locations for that warehouse will be shown. If a part is configured for part traceability, a Trace Detail button will be included on the screen to take the user to a lot detail screen for a location.
Mobile Location Inquiry for Visual Enterprise
The Location Inquiry screen lists all available parts and physical quantities of those parts for a given location. For scanning, the application supports a single barcode that selects a warehouse and location with a single scan. To see the trace detail for a part set up for traceability, user can select the part Id from the available parts and press Trace Detail.
Mobile Location Transfer for Visual Enterprise
The Location Transfer screen will allow the user to move parts from one location to another. The module consists of two sections - Transfer From detail and Transfer To detail.
If trace data exists for chosen location, a trace detail screen will be shown listing all trace Ids with positive available inventory. The user will specify how much inventory will be moved from what lots, then specify what location this quantity will be moved to by selection a location from a drop-down on the Move To screen.
Mobile Work Order Receipt for Visual Enterprise
The work order receipt screen will let a user receive parts from work orders into finished goods. The user can scan in the Base ID for a Work Order or enter it with the keypad. If multiple co-products exist for the work order, the user will choose the part from a given list. The user will then be asked to enter trace detail for the newly received parts.
As in the location transfer module, a screen will be shown with location drop-downs where each trace Id will be mapped to a "receive to" location.
Mobile IBT Entry for Visual Enterprise
This module lets a user create or create/ship Interbranch Transfers. The user scans or selects the "Warehouse From" from the drop-down list, then scans or selects the "Warehouse To" from the drop-down list. To add parts to the IBT, the user can scan a valid part ID and enter the quantity. This will be repeated until all lines have been entered for the IBT.
Mobile IBT Shipping for Visual Enterprise
This module lets a user ship previously created Interbranch Transfers. The user scans or keys in the IBT ID. The screen shows all the items for the IBT that have quantities that are not yet shipped. The user can ship the entire IBT by pressing "Ship All" or partially ship an IBT by selecting a part Id from the list, entering trace detail in the Trace Detail screen (if applicable), entering the quantity they want to ship, and pressing "Ship Selected".
Mobile IBT Receiving for Visual Enterprise
This module lets a user receive previously shipped Interbranch Transfers. The user can scan in or enter the IBT Id; the screen will show all the items for the IBT that have shipped quantities that have not yet been received. The location each part is received to can either be globally set in the config.xml of the application, set up according to a business rule, or the device can be configured to choose a location for each part on the screen. If trace detail was entered for a part in IBT Shipping, a trace detail screen will show.
Once all quantities have been entered and the user clicks Next, they will be taken to the main IBT Receiving screen. The total receiving quantity will be populated in the Rec Qty column for the particular part. To submit the receipt, select "Submit" or press the "S" key to receive the quantities entered.
